Guide to unlock flying in Draenor (World of Warcraft: Legion)

If you want to use flying mounts in Draenor, you need to complete a certain set of achievements in order to get the meta-achievement "Draenor Pathfinder". This can be completed on several different characters, as long as you unlock one achievement on one character, it will carry over to the meta-achievement.

Note that the following guide was written during Legion, so it is intended for soloing at level 110, but I'm sure it can still be used in future expansions as well.

So, why bother spending time to unlock this now that we are mostly in the Broken Isles? For starters, it will be much faster to level up alts with this. The achievement is account wide, so all level 90+ characters can fly in Draenor once you unlock it on your Battle.net account. Other rewards include some fun toys (13 in total from treasures), a few pets, and transmogs from treasure chests and reputation rewards, as well as the Soaring Skyterror mount which you will get from completing the Pathfiender achievement.

Draenor Pathfiender requirements

In order to unlock flying in Draenor, you need to complete the following requirements:
1) Explore all of the Dranor zones to get the Explorer achievements.
2) Collect 100 Treasures from non-Tanaan zones.
3) Complete all major quest lines to get the Loremaster of Draenor achievement.
4) Complete 12 specific Apexis dailies.
5) Get revered with the 3 Tanaan Jungle factions.

So, it's not all that difficult, but for new characters it will take some time to get it all done.

Some tips before beginning

We will soon go into details for how to unlock it as fast and easy as possible, but firstly we will sover some small tips you should keep in mind while working on the achievement.

-  Order of the Awakened reputation requires at least 14 days of daily quests, while Hand of the Prophet/Vol'jin's Headhunters has minimum 19 days, so you should get started on this right away. These are both in Tanaan Jungle.
-  The Lorewalker achievements are based on account basis, so don't spend a lot of time to redo it on a new character if you already have the zone achievement.
- Some people think it's impossible to reach Frostfire Ridge as Alliance because of the massive boulder blocking the way, but there is actually a small tunnel leading trough it.
- A Level 3 Trading Post gives +20 % extra rep, so you might want to build this as soon as possible.
- Also don't forget to pick up the rep buff from Darkmoon Faire if it's available.

Exploring Draenor

So, the first part is to explore all of the zones in Draenor. This is pretty self-explainatory, and you pretty much just need to uncover all of the areas on the map until you get the achievement tied to the zone. Once you have all of the achievements for all of the zones the meta-achievement Draenor Explorer will be unlocked, and you are done with this part.

Again, remember that this is account wide, so you can skip any zones you already fully explored on another character.

Completing all the major quest lines

This part requires you to complete all the major quest lines in each of the Draenor zones. You can track your progress on the quest log where it will tell you how far away from each zone you are. You need to complete the Loremaster achievement for every single zone to get the Loremaster of Draenor achievement needed to unlock flying.

Note that Alliance cannot get the Frostfire Ridge achievement, while Horde cannot get the Shadowmoon Valley achievement, so you only need the one for the faction you are playing.

You should do this step before working on the treasures (step below), because this achievement will unlock a treasure chest map for the same zone.

Collecting Treasures

For this part you need to collect 100 treasures from non-Tanaan zones. This should not be too difficult considering you got maps for most of the zones, and there are over 200 treasures available, so you only need half of them.

The Treasure Maps are unlocked by completing the quest lines in the same zone, which is also required for the above step. The maps cost 100g each, and are sold by a vendor named Grakis, located in Stormshield for Alliance, and by Srikka in Warspear for Horde.

If you are not going to be doing the main quest lines you can also get the maps from Garrison Missions. In order to get these missions, you need to collect 5 Restored Artifact from archaeology and buy them from the same vendor as the maps. Each 5 Artifacts give one mission, which will give you a new map. This is also the only way to Alliance to get the map to Frostfire Ridge, and for Horde to get the map for Shadowmoon Valley.

The treasures are personal loot, so you don't need to worry about respawn timers or anything like that. Just run around and pick them up, and you get the achievement fairly easily.

This part of the achievement is pretty nice, because you will end up with a whole lot of toys, pets and some other cool stuff.

Complete the 12 Specific Daily Quests

Now it's time to complete some daily quests. You used to have to wait until these spawned organically in your Garrison, but now it's easier because you can buy the quest for 200 Garrison Resources from your Garrison Quartermasters just outside your main garrison building.

I recommend buying them all to do it the easy way, and this requires a total of 2200 Garrison Resources, which you should have now because of all the quests you've done and treasures you have found.

All quests require you to fill up a progress bar, so just kill enemies and loot objectives to complete it. Each one should only take a few minutes at level 110.

At level 110 these should all be very easy to solo, so it's not needed to find a group for any of them anymore.

The following Daily Quests are needed:
1) Assault on Everbloom Wilds (Gorgrond)
2) Assault on the Pit (Gorgrond)
3) Assault on the Broken Precipice (Nagrand)
4) Assault on Mok'gol Watchpost (Nagrand)
5) Assault on Skettis (Spires of Arak)
6) Assault on Shattrath Harbor (Talador)
7) Assault on the Iron Siegeworks (Frostfire Ridge)
8) Assault on Magnarok (Frostfire Ridge)
9) Assault on Stonefury Cliffs (Frostfire Ridge)
10) Assault on Darktide Roost (Darkmoon Valley)
11) Assault on Pillars of Fate (Darkmoon Valley)
12) Assault on Socrethar's Rise (Shadowmoon Valley)

These are all the daily quests needed, and you only need to do them once each. Don't bother with doing any other dailies (except for the reputation ones listed below).

Getting the Tanaan factions to revered

This is the final step to unlock flying in Draenor, but unfortunately it takes a lot longer than all of the above. This is because two of these factions are tied to daily quests, and requires 14 and 19 days to get revered. This is also why i recommended to start on this right away, while doing the other objectives of the achievement while you are working on this.

If you are very rich, go to the Auction House and buy a few "Medallion of the Legion". This item can be used to increase your Draenor reputations by 1,000. This means that you need a total of 21 of these items to get the factions to revered, which is a nice way to do it if you are a little too rich.

Below is a general strategy to getting rep with all three factions needed without using the Medallion of the Legion.

Saberstalkers

The Sabelstalker's faction is the only faction you can grind, so you should be working on this when you have some spare time. Getting it to revered can be somewhat time-consuming if you are on a server where people are fighting for the mobs, but you should be able to complete it within a play session.

This reputation used to be somewhat difficult because the mobs were difficult to solo, but it's a breeze at level 110, and you should not have any problems with this at all.

The main way to get reputation is by killing any Blackfang mobs located right besides the faction. These all gives 25 reputation (without buffs) each, so you need a total of 840 mobs if you do it this way.

There are also four rare spawns in this area, and they each give 500 reputation, so kill these when they spawn.

Each week you will get a weekly quest in which you have to kill 3 summonable bosses. The bosses are summoned using items sold by the faction vendor. This quest is easily soloable, and gives 3,500 reputation each week.

Some days one of the daily quests from the main hub will also offer one Sabelstalker's daily quest called "Tooth and Claw", and this will give you 1,500 reputation with them.

Hand of the Prophet / Vol'jin's Headhunters

Firstly you need to complete the introduction quests in Tanaan Jungle, which will get you to 2,200 reputation. This will also unlock three daily quests, which will award a total of 1,000 reputation daily. This means that you need to do these for 19 days to get revered.

There is a small chance that a forth daily quest will spawn, which will give you an extra 250 reputation for that day, so if you are lucky, you might need a few days less in total.

Order of the Awakened

Without any reputation buffs this will require 14 days of dailies. At your main factions base you can pick up the daily quest "Unseen Influence", in which you need to loot 10 Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragments. These drop from any rare elites in Tanaan, so the best way to do it is simply to run around and look for these. One-time treasure chests also drops these, but this can only be dropped once per chest.

Each day this quest will give you 1,500 rep without any buffs.

I really recommend that you do not run around and loot all the chests in Tanaan right away, because tracking down elites can be difficult at times, and when you are in a hurry you might want to rather just rush a few chests and get the daily done.

Flying in Draenor unlocked!

At this point you are done, and the achievement will unlock. Now all your characters can fly in Draenor, and a brand new Soaring Skyterror mount awaits you in your in-game mailbox.
